What to Expect From Your Botox Treatment

Botox: It’s the most widely known (and the most popular) injectable treatment for signs of aging in the United States. With a few Botox injections, we can temporarily prevent muscle contractions in the face, causing a reduction in facial lines and folds. For our patients, it’s a simple, reliable way to turn back the clock on aging.

If you’re considering Botox injections for lines and wrinkles, read on for what to expect out of your appointment.

What To Expect During Your Botox Treatment

Botox is a relatively quick and straightforward treatment. We’ll first talk to you about the areas of your face that you’d like to improve. Then, we’ll make small injections into the targeted areas. Typically, this process is completed within minutes.

We use a numbing cream for Botox treatment. Most patients experience only a minor pinching sensation while the injections are administered.

What To Expect After Your Botox Treatment

Immediately after receiving Botox injections, you may experience some minor redness, tenderness, swelling, and/or bruising. These effects typically subside within a day.

It’s advised to avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours before and after receiving Botox. Additionally, avoid touching or massaging your face for around three days after the treatment. Doing so could spread the Botox to other areas of the face.

The results from your Botox treatment may take a few days to appear. The maximum results should appear within two weeks and will last for up to three months. If you attend your first few Botox sessions as recommended, your results from subsequent appointments will likely last much longer.
